Autumn is really beginning to kick in, with the leaves turning all the warm shades of the colour wheel and ready heavy fruits plopping to earth - this is harvest time. I also begin to chase the ripening fruits of the season. With so much inspiration around its tricky to know where to begin.

I live in Stamford, Lincolnshire with a garden that backs onto some allotments. This is my workplace. Over the past few months I have visited and become a regular amongst the community of ardent gardeners. I have learnt a lot about the cycle of growing and have observed the tender care of plants taken by the growers.

Colour In The Margins
My inspiration initially started by examining the wildflowers within the margins, the poppies, ragwort and thistles, I would set up discreetly and draw amongst the forgotten plots. (See my shop for a selection of wildflower greeting cards). Allotments are dynamic environments and have rhythms set by the plants in time with the changes in weather and the season. These factors also play a big part in my role as self appointed artist in residence in the allotments. Drawing in time with the seasons brings challenges, the low sunlight can wash out colours, angry wasps bombard the drawing board and the subject matter will literally drop off the branch. Timing is of the essence as well as prioritising what to harvest first.
I started with Marina and Isobelle’s plums.

An artist screen print - hand pulled and individually signed. Very Limited Edition of 9 on Norfolk 210gms cartridge paper.
The print was created from hand cut stencils of the paper sparrows.
Each print is sent unframed and packaged loosely in a tube to prevent damage.
